February 2016

Hello All!

Time for the February IPTRA newsletter!

First off, thanks to all who came out and signed up at the January Meet & Greet. It was a great success.

Our next event is Saturday, March 12th. We hope you'll come out to the Book/DVD/CD/Plant Exchange. Look through your book & media shelves and see if you have items you are ready to pass along to others. Bring them with you and look over what your neighbours have brought and hopefully you'll go home with new material. We are limiting the book exchange donations to only 10 books, and no reference books please. In theory there should be few leftovers but any extras are being donated to a school book sale.  If you have any houseplants that are thriving in the conditions here, consider propagating them and offering the cuttings to your neighbours.

Thursday April 28th will be Casino Trip day. We're still working on this, especially transportation, but are hoping to head over to Casino Lac Leamy for about 11 a.m. and return around 3 p.m.

As the longer days and better weather approaches other activities will be starting up.

The Walking Club will start again on April 25th. We meet at the lobby of 195 just before 7 p.m., then walk past the other two lobbies before heading out for a 30 minute loop around the neighbourhood.

Other clubs we are considering include:

Biking
Expanding the Bridge/Card club to include more tables
Mahjong
Board Games (both traditional and Eurogames)

We are also asking if any crafters who sell their wares interested in putting together a craft fair to display their goods and take orders.

Sign up sheets to express interest in these things will be out on March 12th at the book exchange but if you want to sign up electronically, you can do so by filling in the Google form found at this link.

Finally, a number of you have received rent increase notices in excess of the rent control limit. Daniel Stringer is working with Soheil Rastan on coming up with a strategy for those who want to contest the increase. As soon as we have something more to tell you, you will receive an email with more information.

Don't Forget: If you haven't already noted it, our website is,  www.IPTRA.org  and we are also on facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/IPTRA/
