Summer 2017

Summertime!

I hope you are all off enjoying the weather, gardening on your balconies, biking, walking, and perhaps traveling.

The IPTRA will celebrate the first day of summer with a Potluck Dessert and Open Mic on the patio.

That's Wednesday June 21, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on the patio beside 195.

Drop by with either a dessert to share or a good appetite, or both, and visit with and be entertained by your neighbours. We're looking for people willing to share a story, a song, a joke or a poem.  For those of you who get home from work later, remember, "Life is uncertain, eat dessert first!"

Summer BBQ

We don't have a date for this yet but are planning a new twist on this annual event. This year we're hoping to have a variety food trucks come to widen the choices in food on offer.

If you want to recommend a food truck for us to invite, please email us This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Summer Reading

The bookcase across from the tuck shop in 195 should be part of your summer plans. Pick up a book to read on vacation or just sitting on your balcony. The big advantage is that there is no 'due date' so if you keep dozing off in the summer breezes, you don't have to worry about not finishing the book by a certain date. Make checking the bookcase a regular habit, I am amazed at how books come and go, often within hours. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep the shelves neat and tidy.

Annual Trip to Rent Review, July 25

(At least it feels like an annual event.)

Remember Tuesday July 25 will be the Rent Review Hearing date. If you can attend, try and do so if only to get the message to management that we won't take these above-guideline increases without objecting. You should have received your notice of the hearing last week. If you have any skills/experience with these hearings and want to help out those leading the fight, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to see what you can do to help. If you wish to go over Supporting Documents, there's no need to buy a copy of the documents, the rent review group has a copy you can download.

Neighbourhood News/Events:

June 24, Westboro Beach Opening BBQ hosted by the Westboro Beach Community Association. Down at the beach.

WestboroBeachCafe.ca Don't forget the cafe is also open every day now and offers live music four nights a week if you are looking for a place with an Island-feel to cool off in the breeze with a cold drink.

Bridgehead The latest Bridgehead has opened next to the Farm Boy, making it the closest coffee shop to us in a neighbourhood that,
if the number of coffee shops is any indication, appears to run on coffee!
